No passengers on-board when tram trailer derailed

The Manx Electric Railway has suspended services between Laxey and Ramsey following a tram derailment.

A trailer from tram number 58 came off the tracks and toppled onto its side just beyond the Laxey station at around 10.10am.

It was not in service at the time of the incident and there were no passengers on-board.

A full investigation is now under way to determine the cause of the derailment - tram services will resume tomorrow afternoon however a road closure will be required later today to enable engineers to recover the trailer.
