Man convicted for indecent assault on child

A Douglas man has pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a child under the age of 13 as well as making thousands of indecent photographs of children.

38-year-old Andrew Byrne, who's currently remanded at the Isle of Man Prison, appeared at Douglas Courthouse last week.

He pleaded guilty to 35 charges in total - four of indecent assault which took place between 1991 and 1995 and one of breaking a sexual offences prevention order.

In addition he also admitted 30 counts of making indecent still and moving images of children between 2005 and 2015 - including one charge of making 6,091 images.

The court heard a psychological assessment has been carried out - social enquiry reports have now been requested.

Byrne will be sentenced on August 20th.
