Minister defends meat plant fee increase

Increasing fees at the Isle of Man Meat Plant is a way of righting previous wrongs.

That's the message from the Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister whose decision to charge more has come under fire. 
 
Critics say the plans are not supported by the plant, or the Manx National Farmers Union, and could lead to an increase in meat prices. 
 
However Mr Ronan says he's just trying to make things equitable by ensuring the costs are being met by the operators:
