New smoking legislation moves forward

Measures to stop young people smoking are progressing - but not without criticism.

This week the House of Keys voted unanimously in favour of a second reading of the Public Health Tobacco Amendment Bill.

It was moved forward by the Health and Social Care Minister - he was quizzed on why the amendments don't include legislation to ban smoking in cars with children present.

Howard Quayle confirmed that will be implemented in due course but is an environmental health issue - he says this Bill is about making the habit less attractive:
