Murder Trial: Murderer sentenced to life

A murderer from Castletown has today been sentenced to life in prison – with a minimum term of 15 years.

46-year-old Ian Anderson received the sentence at Douglas Courthouse – last week a jury found him guilty of murdering Ballabeg man Neil Roberts following a five week trial.

The 60-year-old’s body was found at Anderson’s home on Queen Street in the early hours of December 1st 2013.

Passing sentence Deemster Montogmerie told Anderson he was convicted of the “brutal murder” of his wife’s lover – saying he’d “significantly delayed” alerting the emergency services.

He added “you have not expressed any genuine remorse over his death since”.

Anderson’s sentence came into effect on December 1st 2013.
