MHK asks if government are doing enough for foster carers

Are foster carers on Island receiving adequate support from government?

That was the question posed by MHK John Houghton in Tynwald this week.

He was looking for clarity on why a number of carers had taken themselves off the register in the last year.

Although Health and Social Care Minister Howard Quayle couldn't answer specifically why they'd left - he confirmed that six further  carers will be needed to provide long-term care.

He says carer figures are strong, though:
