Emergency services free trapped horse

Emergency services were called upon to free a large horse that had become trapped in a horse box parked at the side of the road in Ballasalla.

The owner had sustained an injury whilst trying to release the animal, which had become 'spooked' and tried to escape via a small door intended for human use only.

This resulted in the horse becoming stuck half in and half out of the transport box.

Upon consultation with a vet the horse was sedated and the doorway was made big enough to allow for the horses easy release.

The owner was taken to Nobles hospital after suffering a head injury; after a check over by the vet the horse was only found to have sustained minor cuts and abrasions to the legs.
