Father and son accused of affray after argument

A father and son duo has appeared in court charged with affray after a request for an apology ended up in a scuffle.

53-year-old David Pearce and his 21-year-old son David pleaded not guilty to the offence earlier this week.

The men, from Onchan, had been at a charity function at the Palace Hotel in Douglas on February 28th when they had a disagreement with the alleged victim.

He went home - however sometime later the father and son were said to get a taxi to his address in Santon forcing their way in and demanding an apology.

Advocates acting for the men contested parts of the prosecution's case saying their account strongly differs from that of the victim.

The case has now been adjourned to May 5th for a pre-trial review - both men have been bailed.
