DHSC to make changes following Grainaigh Court suicide

The Department of Health and Social Care says it will act on a recommendation from the Coroner of Inquests following the suicide of a man in one of its facilities.

25-year-old Port Erin man Ben Hall hung himself whilst an inpatient in Grainaigh Court in 2012 - he was suffering from acute schizophrenia.

The DHSC says it undertook an immediate and comprehensive review of the incident and implemented a number of new measures in response to his death.

Although Coroner John Needham didn't place blame on the department he asked it to implement a recommendation, which it says it will now urgently address.
