He is one of two riders who could win the Junior World Enduro title this weekend in France.
The Douglas youngster just needs to score more points than rival Giacomo Redondi to claim the crown.
McCanney leads the Italian by twenty-two points with just forty left to play for.
If results go his way he could be champion by this evening.
