Recycling campaigners ask 'what's in your bin?'

Do you know the contents of your bin?

That's the question a major recycling campaign is asking.

The campaign was devised after it was identified wheelie bins were crammed with waste items that could be recycled.

Things like large gas cylinders, tree stumps, car batteries and engine blocks have found their way into the waste stream.

The campaign is being spearheaded by Zero Waste Mann and SITA.

They're raising awareness to which items can be recycled and how and where to do so.

Further advice is also offered on the handling and disposal of hazardous waste items.

1,000 leaflets have been produced and will be distributed in due course.
