Department considers need to replace chief nurse

The Department of Health and Social Care says it's yet to make a decision on whether it will retain the position of chief nurse.

It follows the news that the job is to become vacant when current post holder Bev Critchlow leaves in September.

She's held the position for 14-years, and is also the director of nursing, midwifery and therapies, but has blamed a difficult personal year for her decision.

The department says the role will have to be considered going forward following consultation with the newly appointed managing director for acute services.
