Police officer guilty of harassment

A former police officer has been fined after pleading guilty to harassment.

47-year-old Stephen Ward admitted the offence at Douglas Courthouse today.

In sentencing him Deputy High Baliff Jayne Hughes told him society expects high standards of the police and the matter was aggravated by him being a serving officer at the time.

He was fined and ordered to pay compensation to the victim - he was also given a restraining order to prevent him approaching them.

Mr Ward has since resigned from the Isle of Man Constabulary.
