Taser gun used in shop incident

Police have confirmed a taser stun gun was used to threaten a shop assistant during an incident at a Douglas newsagent on Wednesday night.

The female shop assistant was targeted by a man whilst working at the Lower Newby’s shop on Glen Falcon Road at around 9.40pm.

The man – who is described as around 5’10 in height and of average build - forced her to hand over £70 in cash.

He was wearing a light coloured coat over a dark hooded top, blue tracksuit bottoms and a balaclava.

Police say he spoke with a deep voice and an Eastern European accent – the woman was later treated for shock at Noble’s Hospital.
