Chief fire officer describes damage at Mt Murray

Assessors are now surveying the damage caused by yesterday's fire at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club.

The main fire was focussed on the accommodation block.

The bar, restaurant and reception areas suffered no damage and the gym area remains untouched.

Saying it one of the worst fires he's experienced in his 31 years of service, chief fire officer Kevin Groom told us about the extent of the damage:
