Commissioners save Ramsey civil registration service

Losing the civil registration service in Ramsey would have been a significant disadvantage for the town.

That’s the view of the commissioners who have stepped in to take over the registering of births, marriages and deaths.

Earlier this year government announced it would be centralising the regional services into a Douglas hub as a way of cost cutting.

However the local authority says it couldn’t allow that to happen and will now operate the facility instead.
