'Manx Rare Breeds' bring four breeds to Island for protection

The organisation, Manx Rare Breeds, have given four rare domestic farm animals a home on the Isle of Man to escape extinction in the UK.


The breeds - which include Golden Guernsey Goats, Northern Dairy shorthorn cows and Portland ewes - are part of a project to preserve their heritage.

Director, Paul Davis believes that breeding them here which could help re-establish stocks on the mainland if there was a major outbreak of disease.

Paul hopes that after next spring's deliveries, the number of rare breeds are set to rise:
