Ramsey Swing Bridge to shut for three months if funding for works are granted

A busy route in Ramsey is set to be shut for three months.

The iconic Ramsey Swing Bridge could undergo important maintenance work if Tynwald grants permission for the spending.

The Department of Infrastructure will seek permission in tomorrow's sitting for the £750,000 needed to complete the works; £100,000 has already been granted.

The project would ensure the long-term safe and cost-effective operation of the bridge which was built in 1892.

According to harbour master Captain Michael Brew it will be a tricky process:
