Losing Open Skies would be detrimental to Island

Abandoning the Open Skies policy would be detrimental for the Island.

That’s according to the Department of Infrastructure which says changing to a regulatory system wouldn’t work and would not provide any more route sustainability.

It follows the news that the Island will lose its Flybe Gatwick service after the airline pulled out of the London airport – selling all of its arrival and departure slots to rival easyJet.

Competitor Citywing claims the Isle of Man needs to regain control of its air links and look at a different way of doing things.

However airport director Ann Reynolds disagrees and says we are actually in a fortunate position:
