£200m expansion plan for Pinewood blocked by local authority

A major expansion project for Pinewood studios has been rejected by the local authority.

 

It would have been good news for local government had the £200 million scheme been granted approval following recent significant investment in the film studio.

Pinewood have control of the Isle of Man’s £25 million media development fund, government also have a £12 million stake in the company.

 

The plans would have seen Pinewood establish itself as a major rival to the larger Hollywood studios, eventually generating a higher level of return for government’s investment.
