Sea passenger numbers fall

The number of passengers travelling to the Island by sea has fallen.

Latest figures released for February show an eight per cent drop in people passing through the harbour compared to the same period last year.

Just over 18,000 people and 6,500 vehicles were counted.

The Steam Packet’s passenger route performance also dipped by over 1,000 compared to February 2012.

13,288 passengers used the Heysham ferry service compared to 14,723 last year – representing a nine per cent drop.
