Farmers face 'heartbreaking' situation

The current situation facing Island farmers has been described as 'heatbreaking'.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne has promised his department will offer help and assistance to farmers who’ve suffered as a result of the bad weather.

Many have lost livestock after their sheep and cattle became buried in heavy snow or buildings collapsed.

Farmers need help with shelter, food and fuel – help can be offered or requested by ringing a special hotline set up by DEFA on 685844.

There are more meet ups today to try and uncover more livestock, one will meet at the Ramsey hairpin at 10am, and one will convene at the White House in Kirk Michael at 11am.
