DCCL disappointed in strike action

The Community, Culture and Leisure Minister says he's “disappointed” in yesterday’s strike action.

Bus drivers had planned two two-hour stoppages at peak times but found themselves locked out of work altogether for the whole day.

Drivers manned picket lines in Port Erin and Douglas angry at changes to their terms and conditions, including the loss of a paid lunch break.

Unite the union is still calling for the department to go to arbitration but the government has discounted the idea.
