Manx rivers given thumbs up

The quality of Manx rivers has been given the thumbs up in a recent survey examining their purity.

More than 90 per cent were of ‘good or better’ quality this summer, bringing to an end a steady decline in standards over recent years.

The tests were based on measures of organic chemical water quality, which reflect pollution such as sewage, farm waste and slurry.

Environmental protection officer Dr Calum MacNeil says the results show a positive change in trend:
