Silverline to launch on Island in time for Christmas

The new helpline spearheaded by Esther Rantzen will launch on the Isle of Man in time for Christmas.

Silverline will provide a 24 hour phone line for elderly people who may be lonely, or maybe in need of help or advice on a range of issues.

Of the Island’s population it was revealed that just fewer than 18,000 were of retirement age.

Esther Rantzen is of course the founder of Child Line, the charity for young people which has grown massively since its launch in the mid eighties.

She said having Silverline running over the festive period will enable them to get a much clearer picture of the type of uptake they can expect.

It will go live on December 3rd, with the official telephone number set to be revealed at the launch.
