UK agrees with Island response to Sellafield Nuclear Plant

A recent report published in the UK has added some weight to the Island's stance that Sellafield Nuclear Plant should be completely closed and decommissioned.

It's been a lengthy process, made longer by the economic situation on what is an extremely expensive process.

The report from the UK National Audit Office charts the progress of the decommissioning work, drawing attention to the same safety and operational concerns that formed the basis of the Isle of Man's argument.

Environment Food and Agriculture Minister, Phil Gawne has said so far the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has failed to meet targets both on cost and timescales.
