September unemployment figures up on August

Unemployment on the Island has jumped again over September, with 1014 people currently out of work.

This number represents 2.3% of the economically active population, jumping up point one percent on last month’s figures.

A total of 568 vacancies were notified to the job centre during the month, with 293 positions still vacant and held on file.

Of the unemployed 702 are males and 312 females.
