Local authorities spend £1.25million on libraries

The six local authorities which operate libraries on the Island spend £1.25million per year on the facilities.

Figures revealed in a written answer in the House of Keys show the operating cost of the Henry Bloom Noble library in Douglas was £672,000 last year.

The Ramsey Town Library cost £170,000 over the year, whilst £127,000 was spent in Onchan.

The operating costs of facilities in Peel, Port Erin and Castletown were also calculated.
