Smoke alarm reminder from fire service

The Isle of Man fire service is urging the public to check their smoke detectors whilst changing the clocks this weekend.

Officers are backing a UK-wide campaign to urge more people to remember to test their alarms.

Fire crews say almost all households will remember to put their clocks forward this weekend, but that many will forget to check whether their smoke detectors are in working order.

Statistics show you're 4 times more likely to die in a fire if your smoke alarm isn't working.

Fire safety officers advise that smoke alarms should be tested once a week.
