Plans submitted for Mona's Queen memorial
Planning permission for the memorial for the Mona's Queen Anchor has now been applied for.
Port St Mary Commissioners want the anchor to be displayed at Kallow Point on a stone base pointing towards Dunkirk.
The Mona's Queen was involved in evacuations at Dunkirk during World War II, but was sunk by a mine during the operation.
A new footpath will need to be constructed to allow access to the memorial from Clifton Road.
The memorial will also incorporate seating for visitors to sit and reflect, as well as flagpoles to display the Manx, French, British and Steam Packet Company flags at an annual ceremony to be held on 29th May starting from this year.
The anchor was returned to the Island last year, 71 years after the vessel was sunk.
