Budget approved by Tynwald

Tynwald has passed the Island's budget for the forthcoming year.

Following a lengthy debate, all but 2 of the 33 members of the Manx parliament voted in favour of Treasury Minister Eddie Teare's spending plan.

During the debate, Ministers outlined how they'd be using their budgets.

Some members were critical of plans to take £55m from the Island's reserves, whilst others didn't agree with the Department of Education and Children's cuts to nursery and preschool.

Others were unhappy that they hadn't been given more time to have their say, and there were suggestions that the public should be consulted on the budget in future.

However, Chief Minister Allan Bell says that wouldn't work [play clip]
