Robbers told jail term is not excessive
Two men involved in a robbery where a pregnant woman was threatened with a knife have had appeals against their jail terms dismissed.
Donovan Bradley Kitching and Ben Edward Clark were sentenced to 6 years and 4 months and 7 and a half years in prison respectively after pleading guilty to the robbery.
Along with a third offender, they stole computer games and DVDs from the victim's flat on Clifton Terrace in March 2010.
The pair told the court that they thought their sentences were excessive.
The third man, Nathan Issac Miller Holliday was given a lesser sentence, due to an earlier guilty plea, fewer previous convictions and less involvement in the robbery.
The appeal heard that offences of robbery and aggravated burglary are uncommon on the Island, and that lengthy sentences will act as a deterrent to others.
The appeal ruled that their sentences were entirely justified and not excessive, and the appeals were dismissed.
