Bell and Watterson attend BIC meeting

The Chief Minister and Home Affairs Minister have been holding talks with other Government officials from across the British Isles this week.

Allan Bell and Juan Watterson attended the British Irish Council meeting in Dublin representing the Isle of Man.

The meeting covered a range of issues including the economy, youth unemployment and drug use.

The BIC was established under the Good Friday agreement to allow the individual Government's within Britain to consult and co-operate on issues that affect them all.

The Council is made up of the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Amongst the other officials at this meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond and Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

The next sitting of the council will be held in Scotland in June.
