The Chief Minister is urging the Manx public to get behind cyclist Mark Cavendish at the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Award tonight.

The world champion and Tour de France green jersey winning cyclist is the favourite to pick up the prize.

It's the third time Cav has made the shortlist for the accolade.

The other nominees include golfers Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Luke Donald, athlete Mo Farah and England cricket captain Andrew Strauss.
