Misadventure verdict at MGP inquest
A verdict of misadventure has been recorded at the inquest into the death of a Manx Grand Prix rider.
Wayne Hamilton died following a crash at the thirteenth milestone in the Junior race at this year's event.
Marshals from the sector of the crash told the court that the 20 year old newcomer had been riding at around 120mph, when he lost control of his Yamaha bike and collided with a tree.
The impact caused the bike to break up and threw Mr Hamilton into the road.
The Deputy Sector Marshal said it was the quickest he'd ever seen a rider go through his sector.
A vehicle examiner explained that the bike was too damaged to be able to tell if there were any mechanical defects with the machine.
A post mortem found Mr Hamilton sustained multiple injuries in the crash.
Coroner of Inquests Jayne Hughes recorded a verdict of misadventure, and extended her condolences to the rider's friends and family.
His death came just two days after winning the newcomers race.
