Onchan Commissioner and former Tynwald member dies

A former member of Tynwald and serving Onchan Commissioner has died.

Ray Kniveton was 78.

Mr Kniveton was elected to the House of Keys in 1994, before being elevated to the Legislative Council four years later, where he served until 2005.

He'd previously served on the Commissioners from 1988 until his election to the House of Keys

He was re-elected unopposed to Onchan Commissioners in November 2009.

The local authority has announced that nominations to stand for the board can now be submitted up until October 31st, with the election for two members taking place on November 24th.

Two candidates have already come forward following the resignation of Brian Stowell last week.
