Pay rise means fewer jobs at Post Office

There are to be redundancies at the Isle of Man Post Office following the announcement of a new pay deal.

Post Office staff and their union confirmed yesterday that an agreement over pay has been reached following months of negotiations.

However, the new deal means there will need to be fewer staff and more efficient working practices to fund the three point five percent pay rise.

The Post Office says this will be done through natural wastage and voluntary redundancies.

Staff had threatened to strike after initially being refused a pay increase earlier this year, but the action was called off last minute
