Vandalism of school grounds won't be tolerated this summer says Minister

Vandalism at schools on the Island has cost the taxpayer over £24,000 in the last year.

Schools break up today and Department of Education is pleading with people to respect school grounds.

Three quarters of schools were vandalised over the last financial year and Minister Eddie Teare says the money for repairs would have been better spent on education.

Most of the damage is caused over the summer and the department says it doesn't want to be forced to close school grounds during the holidays.

Mr Teare says there's a high chance vandals will be caught and prosecuted.[play media file below]
