MHK calls for more time for axed workers

A politician is to continue his campaign to seek help for the railway workers who have been made redundant.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson is to ask Tynwald to extend the men's notice period, to allow them more time to find a new job.

It was confirmed in May that five workers would be cut from the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

An appeal by the group against their redundancy was unsuccessful.

Mr Henderson will present a motion at this month's sitting of Tynwald.
