Tenants may have to move whilst homes are repaired

Tenants in local authority housing in the north of the Island could find themselves forced into temporary accomodation after defects were found in their homes.

36 properties in the Lezayre Estate redevelopment have been showing signs of cracking since 2007.

Ramsey Commissioners are pushing the contractors who built the homes to carry out repairs.

Assesments have shown the cracks pose no structural danger.

If the homes are to be re-rendered, occupants would have to move out whilst the work is completed.

An investigation has revealed the defects were caused by defective materials not poor workmanship.

The Commissioners is hopeful the costs will be covered by the manufacturer of the materials
