Tynwald votes yes to pier stabilisation works
Tynwald has voted in favour of spending £1.8m to carry out work on the Queen's Pier in Ramsey.
The motion from Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne scraped through by one vote.
The voting went ahead despite two members not having returned from the break.
The money could pave the way for future refurbishment, which would cost another £10m or more.
Today's Tynwald debate was heated at times, with different members speaking for and against demolition and others wanting to put the matter off again.

We asked our Energy FM Facebook fans what they think should be done with the pier.
Lewis thinks it should be refurbished as it's a part of Ramsey's scenery and heritage.
Graham says it should be refurbished as if it was demolished, everyone would moan but Casey thinks the government should knock it down and spend the money where it's needed more.
Jooles also reckons it sould be demolished.
Neil says fix it up and make some money back by charging people an entrance fee to walk on the pier.
