Minister says crediting green motorists is too expensive

Phil Gawne told the House of Keys that the latest road tax changes only benefitted more environmentally friendly cars purchased after 2009.

The figure was revealed after Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked why a second hand Toyota Prius costs £123 in vehicle excise duty, but only £35 for a new one.

Mr Gawne said the move was made reluctantly [play clip]
