Housing development paves the way for future investment says minister

The Minister for Social Care is justifying the price of a housing development in Jurby.

Martyn Quayle's Department is to build four bungalows for elderly tenants on the site of the former army camp.

Costing over £180,000 each to build, there was criticism in Tynwald of the price of the houses.

The need for this type of development in Jurby was also questioned by politicians.

Mr Quayle admits the scheme carries abnormally high costs for external works and landscaping.

However, he believes it's a wise investment that will pave the way for future housing development in the area.
