Accidental death in pensioner inquest

The inquest into the death of a 87 yr old woman from Onchan has concluded that she died as a result of an accident.

Joan Terry fell from her bed at Nobles hospital in January 2010 after being admitted with dehydration and later died from her injuries.

Mrs Terry had a long history of falls due to her frailty and was also suffering from Bone Cancer.

Questions were asked at the inquest about the use of bed rails for agitated patients, however the Coroner of inquests Alistair Montgomerie concluded that no blame should be attached to the clinical care team who looked after her.
