GPs to take greater role in diabetes care
Up to 800 of the Island's diabetics will be no longer be treated at the Diabetes Centre.
From February, adults with good control of their diabetes will be cared for by their GPs to reduce demand at the Diabetes Centre.
There are around 3000 diabetics on the Island, with 30 to 40 new cases every year.
At present, 2/3 of cases are dealt with at the Centre, but the Department of Health estimates between 600 and 800 of these could be seen by their GP instead.
