Commissioners call for 2 new GP surgeries

The Chairman of Michael Commissioners wants to see healthcare facilities developed in Kirk Michael.

Stephen Hamer has asked to appear at the Bar of Tynwald, believing that Government plans to build a £1.6million GP surgery in Jurby would be a disadvantage to residents of Kirk Michael.

Mr Hamer believes two surgeries can be bulit for the same cost.

According to the 2006 census, Kirk Michael has over twice the population of Jurby, and could be set to grow even further due to recent building works.

Tynwald is to vote on whether to approve the funds for the surgery in Jurby at this month's sitting.
