History award for Isle of Man student

An Isle of Man school pupil has won a UK wide 'Young Historian' competition

Alison Ogden who is in Year 11 at St Ninian's High School in Douglas, won the award for her work on the D-Day Landings. Her essay on Pegasus Bridge was considered outstanding by the judges. Quite an achievement considering a member of the panel was the grand-daughter of Major John Howard who led the landing at Pegasus Bridge.

Alison and her mother will collect the award from the Spirit of Normandy Trust at a ceremony in London in October.
