Review ordered after bridge sustains more damage

More damage has been found to Peel footbridge, less than a month after it was repaired.

Fenella Bridge was removed in July whilst bearings were fixed, but they're already showing signs of deterioration again.

The parts were designed to last the life of the bridge, which was installed just 4 years ago.

The Department of Infrastructure has ordered a review into the problems and brought in a consulting engineer in order to resolve the issue.

It's expected the review will take several weeks, therefore the number of times the bridge is operated each day is to be reduced.

Pedestrians have been reassured that the bridge is safe to use
