Over half of Island too heavy, survey reveals

Over half of adults on the Isle of Man are overweight or obese according to the results of a survery.

The findings of the Isle of Man Health and Lifestyle survey, commissioned by the Department of Health, reveals that over a third are overweight, whilst nearly 16% are obese.

18% of 16 to 24 year old males drink hazardous levels of alcohol.

15.3% of adults binge drink.

The Department of Health says the results will be crucial in planning for the future health needs of the Island.

As well as this, the Department says it will target preventative measures.
