Warning to drivers parking on Douglas Prom walkway 10mph limit

Tue, 17 Sep 2019

Douglas Prom Refurbishment management teams are asking drivers to abide by the 10mph speed limit imposed for parking on the Walkway while roadworks continue in Central Douglas.

There have been calls made from the public to the My Promworks team of cars exceeding the imposed limit on Loch Prom on the Walkway.

They say that the restriction is there to support all the residents and businesses.

Alternative parking on the Walkway was recently introduced,  as well as 12 disabled parking bays at Howard Street and Regent Street.

Additional signage directing pedestrians to the businesses on Loch Promenade have been placed in key areas.

More additional parking has been provided at Summerland (free of charge for up to 24 hours), Strathallan Walkway (for 2 hours), Parade Street East, Parade Street West and The Tongue car parks are free overnight between 6pm-8am along with many multi storey car parks in the surrounding area (charges will apply).

Only one of Howard Street, Regent Street or Granville Street will be closed at any one time.

My Promworks state that the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team are paying particular attention to this area and taking enforcement action.

More information can be given at the Sea Terminal, Monday to Friday between 9am-4pm, email myprom@gov.im or ring 01624 686363, and follow @mypromisleofman on Twitter if you have any further queries.
